People in Paint Opens March 2nd

We are excited to  announcethe opening of a member show, People in Paint, by Sandy Kazar.  Sandy is a Tampa FL native and a lifetime lover of art.  For her, studio classes in art began in college and continued in Europe.  Raising six children and serving as a priest’s wife in large parishes overtook art until she was in her 50s.  At that time her husband Dennis brought her an expensive set of watercolors, a medium she had never worked in.  She says to justify the expense, “she had to enrolled classes”.  After failing at landscapes, she discovered an ability to do watercolor portraits and became to do commission.  Along the way she rediscovered her love of religious icons and also became an iconographer and ever conducted many workshops in numerous sites.  Therefore her show at the Artisan Depot in Cowan is retrospective in nature and shows different aspects of her work.  It is a truly beautiful show.  Community members are cordially invited to attend and enjoy refreshments at the meet the artist reception from 5-7 on March 3rd.  The show runs from March 2nd to April 9th.

The Artisan Depot is operated by the Franklin County Arts Guild and is located at 204 Cumberland St. East in Cowan, TN. Gallery hours are 12 pm to 5 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays and 11 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.

FCAG Says Good bye to Tom Cowan

Bill Cowan's Blog.jpgIt is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to Tom Cowan who died on February 1, 2017.  He was our much admired friend and fellow member of The Franklin County Arts Guild.  The picture above shows him at his show in 2015.  He was gifted,  generous, and unfailingly kind.
