he Franklin County Arts Guild honored area veterans with an open house event on November 11 featuring two arts shows at the Artisan Depot in Cowan. The Community Art Show “Patriotism” opened on October 27th with work by community members of all ages with their interpretations of what Patriotism means to them. The second show celebrated the art produced by area veterans in various media, styles, and themes. Veterans serving from World War II up through the present are participating in this event. An Open House for both shows was held on Veterans Day November 11 from 1-6 pm. All community members, especially veterans, were invited to come to the open house and join the celebration. The local Home Depot supported the event by providing door prices especially for veterans attending; there were additional door prices of art and flowers offered hourly for all visitors. We were honored to have over 60 visitors to the open house, many of whom were veterans.
The winner of the people’s choice award for the Patriotism themed community show was Nancy Wallace for her book about her family’s veterans.
The Artisan Depot is operated by the Franklin County Arts Guild and is located at 204 Cumberland St. East in Cowan, TN. Gallery hours are 12 pm to 5 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays and 11 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.
