Member show Jenny’s Menagerie

The Franklin County Arts Guild announces a member show by local artist Jenny which will open September 22nd at the Artisan Deport in Cowan.  The upcoming show is called Jenny’s Menagerie, because it features block prints of animals in nature.  There will be a meet the artist reception on September the 30th from 5-7pm.  Community members and artists are cordially invited to attend and enjoy refreshments and this truly unique art.  The Show will run through October 29th.

Jenny is a self-taught artist and has worked with multiple mediums. But when she was introduced to block printing, she fell in love and found her niche.  She says that the process of block printing reminds her a lot of life.  It’s rough around the edges; there are imperfections, hard work and manual labor. You get your hands dirty creating beauty out of something raw.  It gives her a creative expression imperative that parallels life. Although Jenny’s work is influenced by many things as: Art Nuevo, traditional tattoo imagery, symbolism, and the circus; nature has always been her biggest influence. She says her aim is to hone her techniques, not to master them, but become more fluent with her chosen medium.
